  • The trip was great.
  • That said, the Basilica di San Marco is a gorgeous church.
  • This is one of my favourite churches in Venice, with a fabulous altarpiece of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

Atmosphere
  • In the high season, the lines are said to be quite long, so making an early morning visit is probably your best bet.
  • The interior is just as magnificent as the outer façade.
  • it provided a good atmosphere for me and my family.
  • The exterior of the building is beautiful and unique with its domes and the bronze horses which adorn the facade (the exterior ones being copies as the originals are inside).
  • It has beautiful Byzantine architecture.
  • Also note that unless you’re in a big group chances are the long line is not where you need to stand.

Activities/Exhibits
  • As you walk up the stairs to the roof, you get to the balcony where the famous 4 horse statues of St Mark can be seen
  • The Doge Francesco FoscariÂ's tomb is impressive....Their tombs are interesting but not spectacular.
  • It is a lovely place to visit if you like art.
  • Once inside act reverently, we saw a youth being taken down and escorted out of the building for being boisterous.

Views
  • You get a great view of the mosaics, as well as information and samples of some older incomplete pieces....You also get access to the balcony above the entrance, where the horses are on display, for a nice little view of the piazza.
