  • This is the most famous Tibetan Temple in Beijing.

  • There was a great museum of religious artefacts with photographic and pictorial representations of all the Dali Lamas.

  • There are also several exhibition rooms, displaying numerous cultural relics, as well as the portraits and history of many of the Dalai Lama.
  • A lone tower houses a revered Bixi (mythical tortoise-like creature) and superb bronze lions look toward the entrance from the complexÂ's first temple building.
  • There is a small room with some exquisite bronze sculptures (mostly from the Qing dynasty) and at the back is an enormous buddha statue apparently carved from a single tree!

Atmosphere
  • The style of building is as colorful as Han Manchuria, Mongolia, and Tibet.
  • Depsite the bustle, the Temple offered a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
  • The atmosphere in this temple was humbling...decorated ceilings just scream for your attention.
  • The temple itself is huge, with interesting architecture and a gigantic wooden statue in a hall in the North end of the complex.

  • Today, the Yonghegong Lama Temple is a bright, vivid temple, all prayer wheels, clouds of incense, and colourful gilded statues.

  • The huge buddha statue in the very back hall of the complex is a highlight
